The Story of Kirby
In 2006 with the help of Donna Etchison, I rescued a poodle puppy for the horrible life of puppy mill breeder dog by purchasing him at an APRI sponsored auction. He was a cold little ball of fluff weighing less that 3 pounds when he arrived in Texas. A litter "lot" of male puppies of the same color had been offered for auctioned bid of $325 and no one chose him. I have no way of knowing what his fate would have been but I tend to think it was much bleaker that his happy life here with the Tibbies.
"Kirby" grew up with "Blue" Aamilet Color Me Blue and they are best buddies who love to romp and play in the yard. His health aside from a few correctable problems (intestinal worms, ear infection, and slight malnourishment) has been good. We are having some concerns at this time about a slipping patella on his right rear leg (correctable by expensive surgery).
Kirby is neutered and will never produce puppies due to the over abundance of slightly oversize Toy Poodles being mass produced in puppy mill and backyard breeder situations. Please if you choose to buy a dog, find a reputable breeder who is attempting to improve their chosen breed, NOT someone who is looking to make a buck from multiple breeding's of poor quality or unhealthy dogs. We feel Kirby is one really lucky boy to be where he is today considering his harsh beginning. |
